Rilke Schule is a K through 8th grade charter school within the Anchorage School District with a focus on the German Language. Charter Schools are public alternative schools that are held to the same standards as all other ASD schools, though they have more freedom with their choice of curriculum and may use methods of teaching that are not used in other schools. A very good overview of charter schools can be found at this link.
Charter schools in Alaska are regulated by the State Department of Education and Early Development. Click here to view the regulations.
The 2015-2016 school year is our ninth year. The original school charter was approved for three years. In March of 2010 the State Board of Education approved the Rilke Schule Charter for 10 more years.
The school is located at 1846 E. 64th Ave in Anchorage Alaska. Appointments to tour the school can be made by calling the school office at 907-742-0900.
