Principal Update

The APC is happy to announce that we have offered the principal position to Christopher Barr, and he has accepted!

He will officially begin this position in July.

We wish to thank everyone who was involved in this extensive recruitment process, including the three final candidates, the many parent and teacher committee volunteers, the Anchorage School District - especially World Languages Director Brandon Locke, Principal Ball and our parent community.

Herr Barr was born and raised in West Virginia. He has a social studies education degree and a master’s degree in educational leadership. He was a middle school and high school teacher for nine years and an assistant principal for two years in North Carolina.

For the past two years, he has been the principal at the K - 12 school in Akiachak, Alaska. His wife, Amanda, is a high school math teacher.

Herr Barr says, "As an educator and administrator, I love building positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the community. My wife and I look forward to this opportunity. I enjoy radio broadcasting and listening to talk radio, spending time outdoors, playing soccer and cheering Bayern Munich to victory. I look forward to being a part of the Rilke Schule family."

Congratulations, Herr Barr!

We will all miss Principal Ball immensely, but the APC believes that our future is bright and we look forward to welcoming our new principal to our community.
